Voter turnout among Aotearoa’s 18-24 age bracket is strikingly low compared to the general population. The Public Policy Club is committed to making complex and controversial public policy matters understandable for all students – regardless of degree, background, or political ideology!
The main initiative of the Tertiary portfolio is the Policy Kōrero (Also called Political Forums in 2016-2018 and 2021; Let’s Kōrero in 2019-2020). On a fortnightly basis, the Tertiary Lead will break down a relevant public policy issue for a brief period, and then open up the floor to all students to discuss their view on the subject.
We aim to continue the Forums in 2022, with a focus on the topical issues of the year as well as the local elections. Watch this space for further details!
