Tertiary

Voter turnout among Aotearoa’s 18-24 age bracket is strikingly low compared to the general population. The Public Policy Club is committed to making complex and controversial public policy matters understandable for all students – regardless of degree, background, or political ideology!

The main initiative of the Tertiary Civics Programme since 2018 has been our Political Forums – rebranded as “Let’s Kōrero” in 2019. On a fortnightly basis, the Tertiary Leaders will break down a relevant public policy issue for a brief period, and then open up the floor to all students to discuss their view on the subject.

We aim to continue Let’s Kōrero in 2020, with focus on the general election. There is also scope for the Tertiary Team to make the Forums more akin to classes. Watch this space for further details!
